It could be mainly due to the fact that Google has still not released a consumer version of the device, even though more people have bought the “beta” version. As Reuters has reported, many developers and early Glass users are losing interest in the device.

Of 16 Glass app makers contacted by Reuters, 9 said they had stopped work on their projects. A few are focusing on projects for businesses. It will be interesting to see where Google goes from here. But the more we don’t hear about Google’s future plans for GLASS, the less interest people will have in the device. In the meantime, more smart glasses are on their way, so the market could heat up depending on what Google does in the upcoming months.

Toshiba Glass has reflectors integrated within the lens of the right eyepiece. It makes you feel like you are wearing a regular piece of glasses. Toshiba has a long way to go to make this device ready for public. We would love for these smart glasses to get more compact. It will be interesting to see how much this device will cost.

Have you wanted to buy or sell used Google GLASS units? There are many folks who are offering GLASS on eBay for low prices. You could also try Swappa. The site has announced that its visitors can buy and sell GLASS on the site:

Here are just a few things you should keep in mind before selling your GLASS:

Once your device sells you will be expected to ship to the buyer within two (2) business days of receiving payment. Seller pays standard / domestic shipping fees.
Once your device sells you will need to ensure it is un-registered from your carrier’s account (if applicable).
If you have your device is listed on other services (e.g. eBay, Craigslist), it is your responsibility to remove the listing from Swappa immediately if your device sells elsewhere.

Are you planning to sell your Google GLASS?

Everyone knows that a wearable device like GLASS can change many industries. We have already seen many doctors use GLASS to better serve their patients.  Klasien van de Zandschulp and Sander Veenhof are working on a cool solution that would make GLASS farmer-friendly. Dairy farmers can use GLASS to receive updates about the status of their cows. The device can recognize each cow using their QR codes or voice recognition when the farmer speaks the cow’s unique number. Here is how it works:

Every cow that passes by during milking is recognised by Google Glass, either by QR codes on their collars, or via voice recognition when the farmer speaks the cow’s unique number: “Ok glass, check cow status, 256”. .. Information about a specific cow is then projected onto the glass, for example the amount of milk the cow produced that day, the fertility status or the amount of food the cow has eaten. The cows are wearing sensors, which provide the farmer with real-time updates about when a cow is suspiciously overactive, has a change of body temperature or a break in her eating pattern.

This is just a start. Vets can also use Google GLASS to better take care of animals they are dealing with. In fact, I am surprised that we have not seen more solutions like this. We can’t wait to see what else these guys will come up with.
